The Kimball Kruisers 4-H Club held their monthly business meeting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 6, via Zoom.
The Kimball Kruisers 4-H Club recognized our graduating seniors – Jackie Massmann and Brandon Guggisberg. These talented seniors have been long time 4-H members. Both earned top honors in their respective interests. Jackie was a member of the championship Science of Ag team. She served as a club officer in several positions, including: reporter, treasurer, vice president, and president. -Brandon brought home top honors several times at the Minnesota State Fair with all of the beautiful wooden furniture he has created throughout the years. Both Jackie and Brandon wore the 4-H Honor Cords at graduation. What wonderful examples of making the world a better place. Jackie will continue her education at St. Cloud State University for Hospitality and Tourism. Brandon will continue his education at St. Cloud Technical College in the Electrical program. We wish them all of the best!
The majority of our meeting was focused on discussing all of the upcoming summertime announcements and activities. We are looking forward to the return of in-person 4-H programming this summer. Presentation Day for Performing Arts, Share the Fun, Fashion Review, Demonstrations, and Food Review will be Thursday, July 15, at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. General project entry day will be moved ahead to Wednesday, July 28, at the Meeker County Fairgrounds. The Meeker County Fair is Aug. 5-8. The Kimball Kruisers are excited to return to the performance stage and show rings this year at the fair.
For enrichment after our meeting, we learned about hydroponics. Hydroponics is an interesting field in which plants are grown in nutrient water rather than soil. We discussed the pros and cons of hydroponics, as well as which plants would work best in this system.
Our next club meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12. New members are always welcome to join.
