The Watkins Clippers hosted the Eden Valley Hawks on a windy Sunday afternoon, June 6, at the end of a long, hot weekend. The Clippers didn’t score until the third inning, but they ended the game with 5 runs while keeping the Hawks from scoring at all. Nolan Geislinger hit a double and a single to lead the Clippers. Dustin Kramer hit a pair of doubles. The Clippers scored 5 runs on 10 hits in the game. Justin Tompson earned the win for the Clippers. He shut out the Hawks, keeping them to only 3 hits; he also struck out 7 and walked 1. Matt Geislinger pitched the final inning, continuing the shutout.
Tanner Olean takes the loss for the Hawks for his 5 innings; he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits while striking out 2 and walking 1. Ben Arends pitched the final 3 innings, allowing one more run for the Clippers on 4 hits. The Hawks managed only four hits, all singles: Jordan Kelm hit a pair, and Tanner Olean and Ben Arends each hit 1. The Watkins Clippers will next host the Cold Spring Rockies at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 11; and the Kimball Express at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 13. The Eden Valley Hawks next host the Kimball Express at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 11; and the Luxemburg Brewers at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 13.
