Rollin “Rollie” Stuve of Fair Haven died due to COVID-19 on Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, at Hilltop Health Care Center in Watkins, Minnesota. He was 86.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fair Haven with Pastor David Buchs officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Rollin Carl Stuve was born April 2, 1934, in Fair Haven Township to Oscar and Gertrude (Blumke) Stuve. He lived in Fair Haven his entire life and attended school there. He was a lifetime member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Fair Haven celebrating his baptism, confirmation, and marriage there. On Feb. 10, 1952, Rollin was united in marriage to Dorothy Steinhaus at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fair Haven. Rollin worked as a heavy equipment operator in road construction for many years. He belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49 for 65-plus years. When a work injury forced retirement, Rollin went into the automotive business until he fully retired.
Rollin enjoyed his family, cars, WeFest, holidays, traveling, and riding motorcycle and snowmobile. He was friendly, outgoing, and had a gift of gab making many friends and connections throughout the years. Rollin and Dorothy spent winters with their friends in Parker, Ariz., for 15 years.
Rollin was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Dorothy; his parents Oscar and Gertrude Stuve; brother Larry Stuve; brother-in-law Richard James; daughter Wanda Miller; sons-in-law Gordy Miller and Donnie Heid; and grandson Dale Miller.
He is survived by his -children, Sheila Stuve of Kimball, Launa (and Mike) Rudolph of South Haven, and Guy (and Denise) Stuve of Fair Haven; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters Verna (Arlen) Salmela and Judy James.
