We have been very fortunate the last few weeks as we have had great weather for our weekends.
This past weekend was no exception. We had lots of sunshine on Saturday with highs in the 50s very common. The wind was also quite light making for a beautiful day.
On Sunday, much of central and west Minnesota saw temperatures in the upper 50s and lower- to mid-60s with sunshine early in the day. Many people were able to get out and enjoy much of the day.
Temperatures were cooler, however, off to the north as a cold front pushed out of Canada. Temperatures around Bemidji and Nevis were only in the 30s by Sunday afternoon. In addition, some rain and even some light snow pushed into the region with the passage of this frontal boundary system.
Temperatures remained cool on Monday with highs in the 30s common. We also saw some spotty lingering rain and snow on Monday.
Temperatures will slowly warm up for the midweek with highs in the 40s projected. By Thursday, we could even see some 60s across parts of the state.
Guess what? It appears that this weekend should be nice once again with highs in the 50s with sunshine projected around the state.
Enjoy the rest of the week and this upcoming weekend.
Weather history: On this date in 1910 snow hit parts of northern Minesota. Duluth, for example, picked up “6.5 inches of snow!”
Weather facts: Did you know that raindrops first form in a spherical shape? As they begin to fall, however, their shape changes and the bottom flattens and will curve resembling the “shape of a jelly bean or a teardrop.”
