At 9:52 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, the Stearns County Communications Center received a call reporting a vehicle versus pedestrian injury crash. The address provided was 24800 21st Ave. in St. Augusta. The caller indicated that a man who was out blowing snow may have been run over by a truck.
St. Augusta Fire and Rescue, Mayo Ambulance and Stearns County deputies responded to the scene. Deputies arrived on scene and found numerous people assisting an injured male. The male was identified as Scott Knochenmus, 62 of St. Augusta. Knochenmus had been blowing snow in his driveway when his wife, Wendy Knochenmus, 61 began to move the truck in the driveway. As she was backing up the truck, her foot slipped and depressed the accelerator, causing it to accelerate backwards down the driveway, striking her husband.
St. Augusta Fire and Rescue, along with Mayo Ambulance, arrived on scene and took over medical care.
Knochenmus was transported to St. Cloud Hospital for further treatment of significant injuries. This accident remains under investigation.
