The Cubs played a good match last Saturday, Oct. 10, against a worthy Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa team, but the Jaguars emerged victorious, with a 3-0 shutout. Set scores were 25-11, 25-16, and 25-17. Cubs’ senior Naomi Bollman had four kills and three blocks.
“With the injuries our girls have dealt with last year and this year, we are trying to find a line-up that will work for us. Our OH1, Emma Antigua, is out indefinitely, due to a broken bone in her foot. Our middle, who was out all last season and just received clearance to play at the start of this season, has finally returned,” explained Coach Tabitha Mortenson. The girls had some good rallies and strong offensive swings; but they struggled with playing defense against BBE’s quicker tempo. “We are moving forward and we remain excited about getting more comfortable and more confident in our play,” Mortenson added.
