Cross-country runners at Osakis dual meet

By Pat Garry, Staff Writer

The EV-W/K cross-country runners competed in a dual meet at the Osakis Country Club Thursday, Sept. 17. One of XC’s COVID-19 rules states that only 24 people may be at the start line (with spaced-out lanes). Since this was a dual meet, the schools were permitted 12 runners on varsity to be in compliance. As Osakis had four girls running, EV-W/K was able to run all 19 of its athletes (ordinarily a varsity team is made up of seven runners). “My JH runners are encouraged to try JV at some point in the season, and they chose this one. Imagine their surprise when they saw all the hills and then were thrown on Varsity to boot. The whole team did an excellent job!” Coach Holly Hansen exclaimed.
