James “Jim” Hokkanen, 85


James “Jim” Hokkanen of Blanco, Texas, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020, in Austin, Texas. He was 85.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

James Leonard Hokkanen was born Nov. 25, 1935, in Kingston to Alfred Leonard Hokkanen and Mary Elizabeth (Saukkola) Hokkanen. Jim attended St. Cloud State University before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served his country proudly during the Korean War era. After the military, Jim completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Minnesota. Jim’s professional career was primarily with the Ford Motor Company Finance Division, and later he and Bernice had their own human resources consulting firm.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Joan Fuchs.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Bernice (Kuck) Hokkanen; children Stephen (and Melody) Skinner, Elizabeth (and John) Brewer, and Jill (and Ronald) Boothe; siblings Janet (and Dave) Linn, Jerry (and Vickie) Hokkanen, and Jack (and Marsha) Hokkanen; grandchildren Nicholas, Alexander and Sophia Brewer, Racheal Minchew, and Brandon and Crystal Boothe; and other loving relatives and many dear friends.
